Daily Opening & Closing Checks
Legally required due diligence under the FSA SFBB standard
Every morning and evening, a responsible staff member must verify the premises hygiene checks. TempDiary timestamps the action and captures the staff member's name.
Key Details to Note:
- Device Memory: Once a team member signs on a phone or tablet, their name is saved in that device's memory for fast 1-tap sign-off next time.
- Editing a Name: Tap the small Pencil icon on a signed card if a different team member or supervisor needs to be attributed to the check.
- Unsigning: Tapping anywhere on an already signed card allows you to clear and reset the sign-off for that day.
Logging Fridge & Freezer Temperatures
2-tap recording with automated out-of-range protection
The app calculates safe operating limits based on UK food standards. If a unit is running outside safe parameters, TempDiary automatically mandates a corrective action before the log can be saved.
How to Complete a Temperature Check:
- Tap the card for the piece of equipment you are inspecting (e.g. Walk-in Chiller).
- Enter the numeric temperature displayed on the digital probe or thermometer dial.
- If the temperature is in the safe zone (green), tap Save Reading.
- If the temperature exceeds safe thresholds (e.g. above 8°C in a fridge), the dialog turns amber/red and asks: "What action was taken?".
- Select from the 1-tap quick actions ("Adjusted thermostat", "Moved food to secondary unit", "Engineer called") and save. This ensures your legal due diligence is protected.
Managing Equipment via the Menu
Configure new fridges, freezers, and custom safe temperature targets
Kitchen setups evolve. Use the settings drawer at the top right of the application to customize your line.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
- Open Settings: Tap the Hamburger Menu () in the top header bar.
- Removing Old Units: In the Active Units tab, locate the retired piece of equipment and tap the red Remove button. Past historical readings and old audit PDFs are preserved.
- Adding New Equipment: Tap the Add New Unit tab. Choose whether it is a Fridge (0°C to 5°C) or Freezer (-18°C), enter your unit name, and tap Add Equipment.
